Indianapolis–Lila Rose McIntyre Koertge, 93, passed away January 14, 2014 with her family at her side. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Literacy Center in Evansville.

She was born April 9, 1920 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of Wilson and Cordelia (Bray) McIntyre.  She attended Central High School in Evansville.  Lila worked as a secretary at Chrysler Corp., Servel, Inc., Lesh Paper Company and the University of Evansville.  She was a member of the St. Andrew Society and Clan McIntyre Association.  She was an active volunteer with adult literacy in Evansville and Indianapolis, and with Patchwork Central Food Pantry.  She was a yoga teacher for many years, and a former member of Central United Methodist Church and Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Lila married Carlton Mathes Koertge in 1941 at Central United Methodist Church.  They were lifelong residents of Evansville until Carlton’s death in 1986.  After his passing, Lila moved to Indianapolis to be with family.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Luerssen and Carla (John Cote) Koertge; grandchildren, Amy Luerrsen Kennedy, and Carl Louis Cote; great-granddaughter, Quinn Isabella Kennedy; and three nephews, James McIntyre, Daniel McIntyre, and William McIntyre.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister, Evelyn McIntyre Harris; brother, Thorpe McIntyre; nephew, Wilson McIntyre.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Literacy Center in Evansville.
